Ace allrounder Ben Stokes, who was replaced by Faf du Plessis in the last game against Kolkata Knight Riders as he was not 100% fit, is likely to return for this upcoming clash against Royal Challengers Bangalore. No further changes are expected in the team’s lineup.

Steve Smith’s 51 not out in the last game against Kolkata Knight Riders was his second fifty of the IPL 2017. The skipper has been the ‘Mr. consistent’ for Rising Pune Supergiant and he will be the key man with the bat. Imran Tahir and Ben Stokes will be the ones to watch out for when it comes bowling. Tahir is still the leading wicket taker for the side with 10 wickets while Stokes’ economical spell at the death will be crucial. Stokes also has impressive figures of 3 for 18 in the reverse fixture.

Rising Pune Supergiant have won four and lost as many from eight league matches so far and are fourth on the IPL leaderboard with eight points. They were on a three match winning streak before suffering a 7 wicket loss against Kolkata Knight Riders in their last game.

Mandeep Singh who has been below par this season is likely to be replaced either by Vishnu Vinod or Sachin Baby. Stuart Binny has also not been up to the mark and he could make way for batsman Harpreet Singh.

AB de Villiers has the highest batting average among all the batsmen in the side and there will be a lot of expectations pinned on him. Chris Gayle and Virat Kohli have underperformed this year and they will look to turn things around in this match. Legspinners Yuzvendra Chahal and Samuel Badree will be the biggest hopes with the ball for Royal Challengers Bangalore. Chahal has taken 10 wickets so far and is currently featuring in the list of top 5 bowlers. He took three wickets while conceding just 16 runs in the last game and he will be backed by his team to deliver another good performance here.

Things are not looking too bright for the Royal Challengers Bangalore who are lying in the bottom half of the pool, largely due to their misfiring batting lineup. Failure to put up big totals on the board by the batsman has put a lot of pressure on their weak bowling attack.

Royal Challengers Bangalore won the toss and elected to bowl.

Rising Pune Supergiant won by 61 runs.

Player of the match: LH Ferguson (Rising Pune Supergiant)
