Kolkata Knight Riders could be without the services of their frontline pace bowler Chris Woakes who is expected to leave the tournament to join his national team for the upcoming ODI series against South Africa. Trent Boult is likely to be retained in his place.

Chris Lynn is averaging a whopping 71.25 this IPL. He has batted well in almost every game he has played and the Knight Riders will be hoping that he gets going in this crucial match. While Lynn will be the key man, there will also be expectations on Gautam Gambhir, Robin Uthappa and Manish Pandey to fire with the bat. Both Umesh and Kuldeep Yadav have done well in the pace and spin departments respectively and KKR will be counting on these two bowlers to deliver the goods with the ball.

Kolkata Knight Riders slipped down to the fourth place in the IPL 2017 standings as they suffered their fourth defeat in five matches at the hands of Mumbai Indians. They have ended the league stage with eight wins and six losses and 16 points in the bag.

Good news for Sunrisers Hyderabad is that Yuvraj Singh who had injured his hand during the game against Mumbai Indians is likely to return for this match in place of Vijay Shankar. The rest of the lineup is expected to remain the same.

David Warner is in phenomenal form this IPL, topping the batting charts with 604 runs and averaging over 60. The opener had blitzed 126 runs off just 59 balls in his last innings against the KKR and he will be the absolute key in this team’s batting lineup. With three fifties each, Shikhar Dhawan and Moises Henriques have also chipped in vital contributions. Purple cap holder Bhuvneshwar Kumar has taken the most wickets this season – 25 from 13 matches. He troubled the KKR batsmen in both the league games and is expected to trouble them again with his swing bowling.

Sunrisers Hyderabad defeated Gujarat Lions in their previous match to advance through to the playoffs. The team finished third on the IPL 2017 leaderboard with eight wins and five losses from 14 league fixtures. They have now won four of their last six matches.

Kolkata Knight Riders won the toss and elected to bowl.

Kolkata Knight Riders won by 7 wickets (with 4 balls remaining) (D/L method).

Player of the match: NM Coulter-Nile (Kolkata Knight Riders).
