Tamim Iqbal has been the star performer with the bat for Bangladesh. The opener has scored the most runs for his side this Champions Trophy and he will be expected to give the team a blazing start. Shakib Al Hasan and Mahmudullah both struck twin centuries in the last match against New Zealand and they will be the key batsmen down the order. Mustafizur Rahman will be the bowler to watch out for. Though he hasn’t been that impressive so far, his ability to outfox batsmen with his off cutters makes him a big threat.
Bangladesh have done extremely well to come back from the dead and qualify for the semi-finals. After suffering a heavy defeat at the hands of the hosts in their first game and picking up some hope from their washed out Australia game, the tigers pipped the Kiwis in a do-or-die battle to finish second in their group with three points.
After a solid performance against South Africa in the last game, the management may not want to tinker with the winning combination.
Shikhar Dhawan is having another superb edition of the Champions Trophy having hit one hundred and a couple of fifties in three games. He is leading the runs charts and will be India’s biggest hope with the bat. Virat Kohli played a valuable knock in the last match and scored an unbeaten 81 against Pakistan at this ground. Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah have had a good tournament so far and though they may not have taken too many wickets, they have been successful in keeping the batsmen tied up.
India have topped their group with two wins and one loss from their three matches. They blew away Pakistan in their opening fixture but were left stunned by Sri Lanka in their next one before securing a crushing victory over South Africa in a must win contest.
India won the toss and elected to bowl.
India won by 9 wickets (with 59 balls remaining)
Player of the match: RG Sharma (India)
