Preview:

Top order batsman Kusal Perera was forced to retire hurt while batting in the last game against India after he started to have troubles running between the wickets. There has been no official word on the status of his injury but he is expected to recover in time for this game.

Danushka Gunathilaka, Kusal Mendis and Angelo Mathews all scored fifties against India in the last game and Sri Lanka will want them to make good contributions against Pakistan as well. Skipper Mathews is the team’s most experienced and reliable batsmen and he will hold the key to Sri Lanka’s batting. Thisara Perera was the pick of the bowlers, finishing with reasonably good figures. The pacer bowled particularly well at the death and he could cause a few problems for the Pakistani batsmen.

Sri Lanka will be delighted after putting up a strong batting display against India in the last match. It was a good batting surface and their batsmen made the chase look pretty easy in the end. Sri Lanka will now be coming after winning two of their last three ODIs.

Fakhar Zaman showed grit and determination in his very first game of the Champions Trophy against a fiery South African attack and so there will be plenty of expectations from the young man going into this game. Azhar Ali hit a fifty against India and he too will be backed by his team for a good score here. Hasan Ali was brilliant with the ball against South Africa with three wickets to his name and he will be the biggest threat for the Sri Lankan batsmen.

Pakistan’s bowling regained its sharpness as they deflated an intimidating South African batting lineup in their previous match. It has been a very impressive comeback from the team after being hammered by India in their first game.
