4th ODI 2017: India vs Australia
The match is scheduled on Sep 28, 2017. ( 13:30 Local, 8:00 GMT, 13:00 PKT ).
India: AM Rahane, RG Sharma, V Kohli, MK Pandey, KM Jhadav, MS Dhoni, HH Pandya, B Kumar, Kuldeep Yadav, YS Chahal, JJ Bumrah, Shikkar Dhawan, Ravindra Jadeja, Mohammad Shami, Lokesh Rahul, Umesh Yadav, Axar Patel.
Australia: DA Warner, HWR Cartwright, SPD Smith, TM Head, GJ Maxwell, MP Stoinis, MS Wade, JP Faulkner, PJ Cummins, NM Coulter Nile, A Zampa, Josh Hazzlewood, Kane Richardson, Aaron Finch, Peter Handscomb, Ashton Agar.
Shikhar Dhawan, who missed the first three ODIs due to family issues, has withdrawn himself from the remainder of the series. No replacement has been announced by the selectors as of yet. It will be interesting to see if the team decides to tweak the current lineup a little bit after having already clinched the series.
Ajinkya Rahane has scored back to back fifties and he will be India’s key batsman at the top along with skipper Virat Kohli who made a valuable 92 at Kolkata. Hardik Pandya has been a revelation for the side with his match winning performances and he will be crucial with both the bat and the ball. Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been fantastic with the new ball while Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal have been chipping away at the wickets.
India have equalled their previous best winning-streak record of nine consecutive ODI wins, courtesy of a convincing five-wicket victory in the last match. Most of their batsmen have had good hits in this series and their death bowling has also improved in recent times.
Ashton Agar injured his hand while fielding in the last game and he is set to fly back home for treatment. His replacement in the squad has not been named yet by the team management. Adam Zampa could get an opportunity in this upcoming game as a like-for-like replacement.
With scores of 59 and 63 in the last two games, Steven Smith has been the most successful Australian batsman on this tour so far. Aaron Finch struck a magnificent 124 in his very first game the other day and the Indian bowlers will now be wary of him too. Nathan Coulter-Nile is leading the wickets charts with seven scalps while Pat Cummins has been very hard to put away for runs. Both these bowlers continue to be the key for Australia.
Australia have now lost their last six one day internationals on the bounce and have lost their last 11 ODIs away from home which is a big cause of worry for the team. What’s even more worrying is that they have been ending up losing from strong positions.
Australia won the toss and elected to bat.
Australia won by 21 runs.
Series: India led the 5 match series 3-1.
